Our Approach

At DK Tuition we pride ourselves on our personal touch, our tailored tutoring programmes and the strong relationships we maintain with families. Our qualified, DBS checked, and experienced tutors have worked in leading independent schools and have a thorough understanding of what is to be expected. We understand the importance of communication and we provide consistent feedback and advice. As a result we develop strong relationships with families based on trust and we often work with the same client for years. We strive to achieve academic excellence and successfully place children in some of the UK's leading schools.

We are passionate about developing confidence and independence in learning. Not only do we teach our students the key skills and knowledge but we continually work on encouraging our pupils to believe in themselves so that they feel confident moving on after the tutoring journey has ended. Every child is different. They have different learning styles and different learning needs. Our holistic approach and thorough understanding of each child ensures that we carefully craft our teaching and lesson plans to their individual needs.

At DK Tuition we work exclusively online so that we can help students globally. We have experience working in some of London's top preparatory schools, UK boarding schools and with children based internationally who want to come to the UK.

About the founder

I was born and brought up in Singapore where I was educated at Tanglin Trust until the age of 11. At this pivotal point, I remember very clearly being tutored in Maths and English in an attempt to bridge the gap between an international and British education before we moved back to the UK. Not only did I find the move academically hard but I also found the cultural change, moving from an international school to British independent boarding school, challenging. Throughout my career the pastoral side of teaching has always been a priority, I have been Head of PSHE in a leading boarding school and Head of Year 5 & 6 at a leading London day school. I am passionate about helping other children both academically and socially.

I started my teaching journey working at The International School of Penang where I was a GAP student. I then did a stint working in Guangdong and Shanghai teaching English to primary and secondary children. After completing my PGCE I worked at Caldicott Preparatory School, a leading boys’ independent boarding school, where I lived on campus and fully embraced boarding school life. After leaving Caldicott, I spent almost ten years at the prestigious London day school, Wetherby Preparatory School, where my roles included heading up Year 3 and as Head of Year 5 and 6.

I am extremely passionate about the work that I do and have a real enthusiasm for teaching. I have tutored children of all abilities for almost two decades and am proud to have successfully helped many children within the UK and globally gain places at some of the top UK schools including Eton College, St Paul's Junior, Westminster, Stowe, Radley and Brighton College.
